VATA DOSHA
vata properties are cold, dry, light, hard, and rough.
FOODS which Pacifying vata: In general if vata is excess it can be counter with nutritive and tissue-building foods to balance by are warm, moist, heavy, sweet, soft and oily food.
Some common example of vata pacifying foods are like desighee, wheat grain, rice, dairy products, american corn, corn and bananas.If a person looking which food he should go with a vata constitution, foods which will favor are thick soups, cereal with desighee, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains and hot chapatis, breads.generally spicy foods are very much okay for vata. If we talk about purely vegetable which pacify vata then these are beets,Asparagus,okra,cucumber, carrots, green beans, garlic, onions, sweet potato,radish, and turnips, if we talk about fruits they are dates,banana, coconuts, mangoes, water-melons, peaches.
VATA AGGRAVATING FOODS: In general foods which will aggravate vata are frozen desserts, and large amounts of raw vegetables and salads,crackers. true but fact also refined foods such as sugar, flour also avoided should be junk food,smoking, alcohol, tea.
following vegtables agggavate vata are celery, Cabbage, brinjal, cauliflower, mushrooms, green leafy vegetables,peas,potato, simla- mirch(peppers), tomatoes,sprouts, tori(zucchini).
lets understands which the Fruits which aggravate vata pears, Apples, pomegranates. and spices vata can eat all spices and herbs in moderation When there is aggravated Vata, some spiced need an attention with caution : (coriander)dhaniya powder, saffron, parsely, turmeric,(fenugreek)methi seeds. Too much hot, dry spices like for eg dried chili should be avoided they aggravate dryness.
PITTA DOSHA Pitta's properties are hot, sharp, oily and light.
Foods which PACIFYING Pitta: In general we can balance excess pitta with foods which are cool, dry and heavy, sweet, astringent taste. few example are milk, beans, rice, fruits and steamed vegetablesgood for pitta people. Mild spices like cumin, coriander and cilantro are particularly beneficial for pitta. Sweet, bitter, astringent; cold, heavy, dry. Moderation, coolness, ghee, coconut oil, olive oil, green coriander (dhaniya), coriander seeds, cardamom, sprouts and raw foods.
Vegetables & Fruits: except few can have most vegetables and fruits, and from Grains family foods are wheat, barley, parboiled rice and oats.
PITTA AGGRAVATING FOODS: In general foods which will aggravate aggravate pitta are pungent and oily foods such as fried food, spicy food, curry, as well as other spices such as dry ginger, cayenne, garlic, should be avoided by pitta constitutions.Pungent, salty,sour, hot, oily. Stimulants like alcohol,tea, coffee, pickles, smoking,vinegar, spicy and fried foods, fermented foods,processed food, curds, almond, mustard oil, til and corn.Vegetables are carrots, Beets, brinjal, garlic, hot peppers,spinach, tomatoes, onion. Fruit which are Sour and unripe fruits. If there is aggravated Pitta we should avoid fruits like grapefruit, papayas, peaches, apricots,bananas.
and grains are Brown rice, corn,rye, millet.
KAPHA DOSHA
The qualities of kapha dosha are cold, heavy, liquid and unctuous.
Food which PACIFYING Kapha: In general foods which will pacify are foods with pungent, bitter or astringent tastes. Examples include puffed cereals such as puffed corn or rice, grains like amaranth, millet, quinoa, and light, bitter vegetables such as leafy greens. Spices like ginger, turmeric and chili are generally good for kapha people.
Favour Warm light food, dry food cooked without much water, minimum of butter, oil and sugar, stimulating foods , raw foods, salads, fruits. Generally all Vegetables are good, but if you are suffering from any kapha disorder like lung congestion, congestive asthma, sinuses, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, high cholestrol, then avoid all sweet juicy vegetables such as sweet potatoes, cucumbers, pumpkin family, tomatoes, tori etc.
Fruits in favour are Apples, pears, apricots, pomegranates, dried fruits in general figs, prunes, raisins.
Lentils & Legumes are also in favour and If the dosha is not aggravated all except tofu and kidney beans are acceptable. Spices which are ginger is best for improving digestion, turmeric is excellent for drying out the mucous, chillies are excellent for removing mucous.
KAPHA AGGRAVATING FOODS :
In general foods such as dairy products, avocados, wheat and oils have these qualities and will increase kapha in the body.sour, Sweet, salty, heavy, oily, cold. Desserts, sweets, ice cream, deep fried foods, possessiveness, miserliness, laziness. Vegetables can be taken, sweet juicy vegetables such as cucumbers, sweet potatoes, pumpkin family, tomatoes, ghiya,tori etc.
